Basketball Game Preview: Anna Coyotes vs. Independence Knights

The Anna Coyotes will be taking part in a tournament against the Independence Knights at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Anna is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54 points per game this season.

Anna took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 73-55 victory over Greenville.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Anna to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lamin Foon, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. That's the most points Foon has posted since back in November. Caleb Smith was another key player, putting up ten points.

Anna was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Independence didn't have quite enough to beat Memorial on Friday and fell 55-52. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 366th, while the Warriors are ranked 73rd).

Anna is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Independence, they dropped their record down to 9-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Anna came up short against Independence in their previous matchup back in November, falling 59-51. Can Anna avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
