Basketball Recap: Oak Park Comes Up Short

Oak Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 56-13 defeat at the hands of the Pontiac Phoenix. The Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-6.

Aundreya Watkins was Oak Park's leading scorer, having posted four points. Zihara Shaw held things down on the boards with nine rebounds.

Pontiac found their leader in sophomore Germani Hall, who dropped a double-double with 29 points and 13 steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Hall has scored at least a third of Pontiac's points. Dariah Jones was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to ten steals and five boards.

Oak Park's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Pontiac, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Oak Park has already played their next matchup, a 50-9 defeat against Saginaw United on the 3rd. As for Pontiac, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 46-21 loss against Farmington on the 6th.
