Volleyball Recap: Justin Garza Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Justin Garza can now relate to. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sanger West Hornets on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-1 defeat back in April.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Sanger West scored at least 17 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 20-25, 25-20, 25-23.

Despite the loss, Justin Garza still got an impressive performance from Phillip Bell, who had 20 digs and six assists. Bell is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 11 or more in each of the last five games he's played.

Justin Garza's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 29-12. As for Sanger West, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-14 record this season.

Justin Garza does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sanger West, they will face off against Santa Ynez at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Hornets surely won't give up without a fight.
