Softball Game Preview: Smoky Mountain Mustangs vs. Tuscola Mountaineers

The Smoky Mountain Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Tuscola Mountaineers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Smoky Mountain hasn't scored more than two runs for four games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Smoky Mountain fell victim to Enka and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 20-0 to the Jets.

Meanwhile, Tuscola also failed to score in their most recent game. They came up short against Swain County on Thursday, falling 6-0. That's two games in a row now that the Mountaineers have lost by exactly six runs.

Smoky Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Tuscola, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

Smoky Mountain couldn't quite get it done against Tuscola in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 9-6. Can Smoky Mountain avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
