Recap: Tri County Northeast Wolfpack vs. Pender Pendragons
If the Tri County Northeast Wolfpack were feeling good off their 64-40 takedown of the Walthill Blujays last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Tri County Northeast was beaten by Pender 66-26 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Tri County Northeast can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while Pender is ranked tenth).
Tri County Northeast got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Shantel Miller and
Rhyanne Mackling, who each put up six points. Mackling also led the team in rebounds with eight.
Pender's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Wegner, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Wegner hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Madalyn Dolliver was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with two steals.
Tri County Northeast's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Pender, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 17-0.
Tri County Northeast will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bancroft-Rosalie at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Pender will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Guardian Angels Central Catholic on February 6th.
