Cornwall Central lost to Newburgh Free Academy back in April of 2025, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Dragons skirted past the Goldbacks 4-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dragons.

Molly Violetti spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, Cornwall Central's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Katelyn Greene, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That RBI was Greene's first of the season.

Cornwall Central's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Newburgh Free Academy, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-2.

Looking ahead, Cornwall Central will head out on the road to face off against Minisink Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Newburgh Free Academy, they have already played their next game, a 5-4 defeat against Middletown on the 18th.
