Baseball Recap: Perquimans Triumphs

It's playoff time, and Perquimans had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Uwharrie Charter Academy Eagles by a score of 4-1 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Maddux Thach made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Askew, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Walker Meads, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Perquimans' record is now 26-6. As for Uwharrie Charter Academy, with the loss, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-12.

Perquimans will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
