DECORAH, Iowa - the Vikings had a big 21-point second quarter on Saturday, sealing a 35-10 victory over
Solon (Iowa).
Decorah-North Winneshiek scored on a touchdown pass by
Jacob Kvale to
Michael Peter, a
Josey Jewell touchdown run and a Kvale touchdown pass to Peter in the quarter.
DNW was up 28-3 at the half after taking the lead on a
Holt Johansen touchdown run in the first quarter.
The Decorah school expanded its lead to 32 points entering the fourth quarter. The Vikings scored once in the quarter on a touchdown run by Johansen.
With the win Decorah-North Winneshiek extended its winning streak to 12 games. DNW defeated the Cardinals 35-0 last week.
Kvale was the top performer for the Vikings. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns.
The Spartans' lone touchdown came on a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Solon came in giving up 13.8 points per game this season. Decorah-North Winneshiek came into the game allowing 7.3 points per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Solon, which notched a 24-7 victory over Crestwood in its previous outing.
DNW (12-0) faces off against Central Clinton in a playoff game its next time out. The Sabers will bring a record of 8-3 into the meeting.
