Preview: Quakertown Panthers vs. Perkiomen Valley Vikings
The Quakertown Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Perkiomen Valley Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Quakertown sitting on four straight wins and Perkiomen Valley on three.
Last Friday, Quakertown's game was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They snuck past Upper Dublin with a 21-17 win.
Quakertown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Vince Micucci led the charge by rushing for 44 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 127 yards and a touchdown. Aiden Burgy did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 80 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Perkiomen Valley was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 28-21 win over Phoenixville.
Xavier Nunez was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry.
Quakertown's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-4. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-8 Council Rock North and 2-8 Bensalem (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 33.3% over those games). As for Perkiomen Valley, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Quakertown came up short against Perkiomen Valley when the teams last played back in November of 2020, falling 35-28. Can Quakertown avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
