Basketball Recap: Butternut Comes Up Short

Butternut suffered their biggest defeat since December 15, 2025 on Thursday. They were outmatched by the Solon Springs Eagles and fell 69-29. The Midgets have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Butternut's loss came despite strong showings from Gianna Nahring and Brooklynn Treml. Nahring went 5-for-10 en route to 11 points along with six boards and three steals, while Treml posted six points. Treml is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Caitlynn Bebeau, who put up three points.

Claire Beerntsen was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 30 points and 14 rebounds for Solon Springs. With that strong performance, Beerntsen is now averaging an impressive 15.7 points per game. Addison McCuskey was another key player, putting up 14 points in addition to six boards and five steals.

Butternut's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Solon Springs, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-2.

Butternut has already played their next game, a 58-31 victory against South Shore on the 2nd. As for Solon Springs, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 68-61 win against Somerset on the 31st.
