Baseball Recap: Robinson Comes Up Short

If Robinson was feeling good fresh off their 8-2 takedown of Blake last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Robinson lost 14-4 to the Newsome Wolves on Saturday. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Nathan Porath was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

At the plate, Samuel Hyman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Brady Capps, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Even though they lost, Robinson hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post two or more strikeouts.

Robinson has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. The win (which was Newsome's sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-3.

Looking ahead, Robinson will be playing in front of their home fans against Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Robinson's pitchers better be ready for this one: Jefferson has averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Newsome, they are taking a road trip to take on East Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Newsome is facing East Bay at the right time seeing as East Bay is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
