Baseball Recap: West Jefferson Comes Up Short

West Jefferson extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 21 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-11 in the process. They lost 16-0 to the Firth Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, with their most recent loss being a 24-4 defeat two weeks ago.

As for Firth, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 16-5. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Firth's part, Beau Ringel and Brycen Andersen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Ringel tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Andersen pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ringel has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Ringel got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, while Andersen went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most runs Ringel has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grant Vasquez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Darrell Vasquez, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

West Jefferson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Firth, they will take on North Fremont at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
