Football Recap: East Central Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact East Central can now relate to. They had to suffer through a 52-7 loss at the hands of the Lake Travis Cavaliers. The Hornets were red-hot offensively headed into the game (they scored no less than 31 points in the seven matchups prior) but the Cavaliers' defense proved too tough.

Isaiah Mackey threw for 144 yards and a touchdown. Deirionn Smith-Cline was his top target, picking up 66 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Myron Robinson rushed for 41 yards, and also picked up 35 receiving yards.

It was another big night for Vann Hopping, who rushed for 181 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry for Lake Travis. Hopping's longest rush was for an incredible 95 yards. Chaston Ditta was another key player, throwing for 315 yards and two touchdowns.

East Central moved to 9-4 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Lake Travis, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.

East Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lake Travis, they will square off against Westlake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,132 yards in their previous games.
