Soccer Game Preview: Monta Vista vs. San Jose

The Monta Vista Matadors and the San Jose Bulldogs will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Monta Vista fell victim to Palo Alto and their airtight defense on Saturday. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 1-0. The loss was the Matadors' first of the season.

Meanwhile, San Jose was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were one goals away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Piedmont Hills. The matchup was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but the Bulldogs couldn't quite close it out.

San Jose's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6-1. As for Monta Vista, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1-2.

Monta Vista took their victory against San Jose when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 5-1. Will Monta Vista repeat their success, or does San Jose have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
