Basketball Recap: Hebbronville Comes Up Short

Hebbronville lost against Falfurrias back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hebbronville Longhorns took a 56-40 bruising from the Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys. The Longhorns just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Despite the loss, Hebbronville still got an impressive performance from Oscar Carrillo, who posted 21 points. Carrillo has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jeffery Shreve, who earned seven points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Hebbronville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Quisto Sanchez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Falfurrias, going 7 of 16 on his way to 27 points and four blocks. Those four blocks gave Sanchez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of JB Barrera, who put up seven points and five rebounds.

Hebbronville's record now sits at 8-14. As for Falfurrias, they moved to 15-9 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Hebbronville will take on San Diego at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Falfurrias, they will venture away from home to face off against Banquete at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Falfurrias is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season.
