Baseball Game Preview: Atherton Ravens vs. Fern Creek Tigers

Atherton is 2-7 against Fern Creek since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Ravens are taking a road trip to challenge the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Atherton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Last Saturday, Atherton came up short against Holy Cross and fell 9-5.

Kenneth Whobrey made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Atherton's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-3-1 when he doesn't). Blake Brown also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Fern Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They came up short against Whitefield Academy, falling 16-6.

Atherton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4-1. As for Fern Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Atherton suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Fern Creek when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Ravens avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
