Softball Recap: South Milwaukee Continues Home Dominance on Friday

There's no place like home for South Milwaukee, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Greenfield Hustlin' Hawks on Friday by a score of 5-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-0 two weeks ago.

Lindsey Stapleton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, South Milwaukee's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mickayla McCray, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Ava Dziondziakowski also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

South Milwaukee pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Greenfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

South Milwaukee didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 8-1 win against St. Thomas More on the 5th. As for Greenfield, they will take on New Berlin Eisenhower at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
