Softball Recap: Madison Takes a Loss

Madison extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-4 in the process. They fell 8-3 to the Jeffersonville Red Devils. The Cubs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Jeffersonville's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Jeffersonville's part, Emma Borders spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Borders has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Jeffersonville got a massive performance out of Abigail Perissi, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Perissi has posted since back in March of 2024. Ally Young was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Madison didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-0 victory against South Ripley on the 17th. As for Jeffersonville, they have also already played their next contest, a 16-6 defeat against Floyd Central on the 21st.
