Baseball Recap: Cypress Bay Takes a Loss

Cypress Bay lost against Flanagan back in April of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Cypress Bay Lightning fell just short of the Flanagan Falcons by a score of 6-5.

Gabe Gener was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, he also gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Lian Geronimo was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

Cypress Bay's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Flanagan, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cypress Bay will face off against Taravella at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Flanagan, they will challenge Pembroke Pines Charter at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
