Baseball Game Preview: Williamstown Yellowjackets vs. Wheeling Central Catholic Maroon Knights

The Williamstown Yellowjackets will take on the Wheeling Central Catholic Maroon Knights at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Williamstown is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 11 games.

Williamstown is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: George Washington, who was ranked second at the time (Williamstown was ranked 23rd). The Yellowjackets came out on top in a nail-biter against the Patriots on Friday, sneaking past 10-9. Ten seems to be a good number for the Yellowjackets as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Wheeling Central Catholic got themselves on the board against Tyler two weeks ago, but Tyler never followed suit. They blew past the Knights 11-0. The Maroon Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

Williamstown pushed their record up to 20-8 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Wheeling Central Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.
