Baseball Recap: Cascade Comes Up Short

Cascade had lost 16 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-12 to make it 17. They came up short against the Meadowdale Mavericks, falling 11-3. If the Bruins were looking for revenge after losing 11-4 to the Mavericks when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Marcell Alexander was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

As for Meadowdale, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-12. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Meadowdale's side, Daniel Smith made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Smith was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Meadowdale got a massive performance out of Tristan Dodds, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave Dodds a new career-high. Anthony Scholl was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cascade will challenge Arlington at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Meadowdale, they will face off against Everett at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
