Softball Recap: Southwest Dekalb's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Southwest DeKalb had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the St. Pius X Catholic Golden Lions. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Golden Lions back in August, they had to take a 8-2 loss.

Makayla Dixon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August.

In other batting news, Chrissee Taylor was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September.

Southwest DeKalb's victory bumped their record up to 15-5. As for St. Pius X Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-13.

Coming up, Southwest DeKalb will venture away from home to challenge Atlanta International at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Pius X Catholic, they will square off against North Springs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
