Basketball Recap: Lake Norman Extends Winning Streak to 11

Lake Norman came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 73-67 victory over the Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Ragin' Bulls are ranked 130th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lake Norman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trent Steinour led the charge by dropping a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds. Steinour is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last 36 games he's played dating back to last season. Nick Arnold was another key player, putting up 21 points and five boards.

Lake Norman's win was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-1. As for Hickory Ridge, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-12.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Cox Mill the next time they take the court. Lake Norman will host Cox Mill at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Hickory Ridge will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on February 11th.
