Preview: Weimar Wildcats vs. La Villa Cardinals
Weimar is on a three-game streak of home wins, while La Villa is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Weimar Wildcats will take on the La Villa Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Weimar will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Weimar walked away with it. They blew past Junction 55-0 at home. Considering Weimar has won seven matches by more than 25 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Even though La Villa has not done well against Three Rivers recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. La Villa sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 26-24 victory over Three Rivers.
La Villa had a senior duo take command as Brandon Felix rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries and Rey Perez gained 148 total yards and three touchdowns. Felix was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 64 yards.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 9-2.
