Softball Recap: Granville Central Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Granville Central had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Hillside Hornets by a score of 14-12 on Thursday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it 12 in a row.

Myra Travis was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-6. Another player making a difference was Iyanna Hawkins, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4.

Granville Central will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Louisburg at 6:00 p.m. on March 11th. As for Hillside, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 18-7 victory against Durham School of the Arts on the 28th.
