Basketball Recap: Chatham Central Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Chloe Scott and Karaleigh Dodson

Chatham Central and Bear Grass Charter squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Chatham Central had to settle for second. They fell just short of Bear Grass Charter by a score of 56-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Chatham Central has suffered since January 8th.

Chatham Central's loss came despite strong showings from Karaleigh Dodson and Chloe Scott. Dodson dropped a double-double with 14 points and 17 boards, while Scott dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards gave Scott a new career-high. Sydney Sellers was another key player, putting up six points and 12 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Chatham Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 13 consecutive matches.

Bear Grass Charter can attribute much of their success to Hylee(Al) Jarrett, who went 5-for-12 en route to 16 points and five steals. Jarrett has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Callee Perry, who posted ten points along with eight boards and four steals.

Chatham Central's defeat dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Bear Grass Charter, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.

Chatham Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bear Grass Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against Perquimans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a nine-game winning streak alive.
