Baseball Recap: Richfield Triumphs

Richfield posted their closest victory since April 11, 2025 on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Sky View Bobcats, sneaking past 19-18. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now won three in a row.

Garrett Wayman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and eight unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-6 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.

In other batting news, Kelby Rickenbach was excellent, going 6-for-7 with five RBI, three runs, and three doubles. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hayden Hansen, who went 2-for-6 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.

Richfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Richfield's record is now 2-4. As for Sky View, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Richfield wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 15-3 victory against Logan on the 14th. As for Sky View, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-3 defeat against Highland on the 14th.
