The Chardon Hilltoppers will head out to take on the Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chardon will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Chardon is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Mayfield on Monday as they made off with a 19-4 victory. With that win, the Hilltoppers brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Sierra Taylor was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Anderson, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Chardon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin posted their closest victory since April 9, 2024 on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy 2-1. The win was familiar territory for the Lions, who have now won three games in a row.
Alex Mould spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Becca Wooke, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Lexi Simon was another, going 3-for-4 with one double.
Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Chardon, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chardon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin struggles in that department as they've averaged .350. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Chardon's way against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin when the teams last played back in April of 2023, as Chardon made off with an 11-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hilltoppers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
