Chris Smith leads a balanced attack to beat University Heights

On Tuesday, Maranatha beat University Heights 58-51. The win was all the more spectacular given Maranatha's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 323rd in California, while University Heights is ranked 32nd in Kentucky).

Maranatha's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chris Smith, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. Daniel Nwabudike was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds.

The win makes it two in a row for Maranatha and bumps their season record up to 5-3. As for University Heights, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 5-3.

Maranatha and Fountain-Fort Carson will face off at 9:00 p.m. on December 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. University Heights' road trip will continue as they head out to face Central Hardin at 8:00 p.m. on December 28th.
