It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hopkins had no problem doing just that on Monday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Pingree Highlanders. The win was nothing new for the Hilltoppers as they're now sitting on six straight.
Rocco DeMaio III was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Hopkins' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 8-1 (and 5-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy O'Connell, who went 1-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Hopkins' victory bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Pingree, they moved to 10-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
As of now, neither Hopkins nor the Highlanders have any future games scheduled.
