Football Game Preview: Lytle Pirates vs. Crystal City Javelinas

The Lytle Pirates will challenge the Crystal City Javelinas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lytle will be strutting in after a victory while Crystal City will be coming in after a defeat.

Lytle took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 29-28 photo finish over Cole. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since October 11, 2024.

Lytle had a senior duo take command as Travis Norton gained 145 total yards and a touchdown and Toby Davila rushed for 94 yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, Crystal City was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 38-34 to Hondo. The loss continues a trend for the Javelinas in their meetings with the Owls: they've now lost eight in a row.

Lytle's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-4. As for Crystal City, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.
