Football Game Preview: Willow Spring Storm vs. Laney Buccaneers

The Willow Spring Storm will challenge the Laney Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Willow Spring is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Jordan on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Storm were dealt a 43-3 loss at the hands of the Falcons. The game marked the Storm's lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Laney). They skirted past North Brunswick 43-40. The win continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their matchups with the Scorpions: they've now won three in a row.

Laney's win came from a few key players Willow Spring will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Joquin Dingle, who rushed for 164 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Those two rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Gallagher, who threw for 226 yards and three TDs.

Laney was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 214 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

This is the second loss in a row for Willow Spring and nudges their season record down to 5-5. As for Laney, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
