Softball Recap: Grove City Comes Up Short

After flying high against Bishop Watterson on Wednesday, Grove City came back down to earth. The Greyhounds fell 9-5 to the Teays Valley Vikings on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Greyhounds of the 16-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2018.

Grove City has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Teays Valley, their record now sits at 18-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grove City will welcome Marysville at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Teays Valley, they will be playing at home against Olentangy Orange at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 2.2, the Pioneers 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
