Baseball Recap: Liberty Falls Short Against Ranked Parkland

Liberty faced Parkland in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Hurricanes fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 7-5. The Hurricanes' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Michael Mariano Jr. was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Franklin Pichardo was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double. Dylan Metzgar was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one double and one RBI.
