Volleyball Recap: Karnes City Badgers vs. Luling Eagles

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Stockdale, Karnes City was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Luling Eagles with a sharp 3-0 win. The Badgers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Karnes City never let Luling on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-14, 25-23.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Karnes City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophia Orosco, who had eight kills, three aces, and a block. That's the most aces Orosco has posted since back in August. Mia Lopez was another key player, getting two kills and 18 assists.

Karnes City's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-21. As for Luling, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-21.

Karnes City will challenge Goliad at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Goliad has won six straight at home, while Karnes City won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Luling, they will take on Nixon-Smiley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Luling is facing Nixon-Smiley at the right time seeing as Nixon-Smiley is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
