Basketball Game Preview: Newton Falls Tigers vs. Garfield G-Men

Newton Falls and Garfield are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Newton Falls Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Garfield G-Men at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Newton Falls earned a 56-45 win over Crestview. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Landon McGregor was his usual excellent self, going 6 of 8 on his way to 15 points along with seven boards and five assists. He has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Dallas Dunlap was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, Garfield's game on Tuesday was all tied up 25-25 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 58-50 victory over Liberty.

Newton Falls has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.9 points per game. As for Garfield, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4.

Newton Falls came up short against Garfield in their previous meeting on January 6th, falling 52-42. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Garfield's Preston Gedeon, who went 9 for 20 en route to 25 points.
