Soccer Game Preview: Gateway vs. Overland

The Gateway Olympians will take on the Overland Trailblazers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Gateway is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Adams City on Tuesday. The Olympians lost 6-2 to the Eagles.

Dayanara Vazquez and Sa'Mya Shazier scored both of Gateway's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last game, Overland made sure to put some goals up on the board against Aurora Central on Tuesday. They blew past the Trojans 4-1. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Overland's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Gateway's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 1-1-3 and their overall record down to 3-3-4. As for Overland, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.

Gateway took their victory against Overland in their previous matchup on April 1st by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Olympians repeat their success, or do the Trailblazers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
