Softball Recap: Butte Finds Home Field Redemption Against Capital

There's no place like home for Butte, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past the Capital Bruins 10-1 on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 back in April.

Mattie Stepan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Reese Johnson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Butte's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-12. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Capital, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.

Butte wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 14-12 defeat against Big Sky on the 10th. As for Capital, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-0 loss against Helena on the 10th.
