Basketball Recap: Somerset Academy South Homestead Drops Highest Score of Season Against Colonial Christian

Somerset Academy South Homestead scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell to the Colonial Christian Patriots 43-38. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hurricanes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 51-13 back in November of 2024.

Somerset Academy South Homestead's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexia Almeida, who went 5 of 7 en route to 12 points and three steals. Those 12 points gave Almeida a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Camila Shardi, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 13 points and six boards.

Colonial Christian found their leader in sophomore Mikaela Pecina, who went 7 of 17 en route to 18 points and three steals. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for Pecina. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashely Perez, who posted seven points.

Somerset Academy South Homestead dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Colonial Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.

Somerset Academy South Homestead wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 46-22 defeat against Varela on the 8th. Colonial Christian has also already played their next matchup, a 31-26 loss against Mater Bay Academy on the 9th.
