Dynamic duo of Narayan Thomas and Nathan Kirk lead Mainland to victory

Recap: Mainland Buccaneers vs. Atlantic Sharks

In what's become a running theme this season, the Mainland Buccaneers gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Atlantic as Mainland made off with a 77-52 win. Given Mainland's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Atlantic is ranked 273rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Mainland to victory were Narayan Thomas and Nathan Kirk. Thomas dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, while Kirk dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Kirk pulled down eight or more rebounds. Seven Simmons was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.

Mainland has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Atlantic, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.

Mainland will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against New Smyrna Beach at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. New Smyrna Beach is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games. Atlantic won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Palatka at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. Palatka has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,189 points over their last 18 matches.
