Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Iona Macnabb and Aniiya Johnson Lead Richfield to Victory

Richfield hadn't done well against Academy of Holy Angels recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Richfield Spartans strolled past the Academy of Holy Angels Stars with points to spare, taking the game 66-52. This was a revenge game for the Spartans: when they faced off against the Stars last Wednesday, they had to take a 65-57 defeat.

Leading Richfield to victory were Aniiya Johnson and Iona Macnabb. Johnson went 6-for-10 on her way to 17 points, while Macnabb went 5-for-10 to rack up 18 points. The dominant performance also gave Macnabb a new career-high in blocks (two). Zuri Hayes was another key player, putting up five points and eight boards.

Richfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 28 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Richfield's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points over those games. As for Academy of Holy Angels, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-8.

As of now, neither Richfield nor Academy of Holy Angels have any future games scheduled.
