Basketball Recap: Dessiah Gee's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Marianna over Bay

After flying high against Port St. Joe on Monday, Marianna came back down to earth. The Marianna Bulldogs fell 43-36 to the Bay Tornadoes on Tuesday. The Bulldogs were probably out for revenge after losing 43-40 to them when the teams met back in November of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Marianna lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dessiah Gee, who posted 12 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Harmoni Gibson, who earned 13 points.

Bay found their leader in sophomore Aiyana Hunt, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. Hunt has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Breanah Peace, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 21 rebounds.

Marianna now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Bay, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Chipley the next time they take the court. Bay will host Chipley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Marianna will host them at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
