Softball Game Preview: Canal Winchester Indians vs. Groveport-Madison Cruisers

Canal Winchester is 2-8 against Groveport-Madison since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Indians will venture away from home to face off against the Cruisers at 5:15 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Canal Winchester is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Lancaster, falling 23-4.

Canal Winchester saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendal Mccrea, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Pickerington Central hit Groveport-Madison with a five-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cruisers lost 14-2 to the Tigers. The Cruisers' loss continues a trend for the team, making it seven in a row.

Groveport-Madison's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Canal Winchester, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Canal Winchester skirted past Groveport-Madison 17-16 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
