Basketball Game Preview: Whitmer Panthers vs. Richmond Heights Spartans

The Whitmer Panthers will square off against the Richmond Heights Spartans at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Whitmer knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Richmond Heights likes a good challenge.

Whitmer easily dispatched Southview last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Whitmer fell just short of Combine Academy National by a score of 67-64 on Monday. The Panthers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Richmond Heights had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 70-61.

The win got Richmond Heights back to even at 7-7. As for Whitmer, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

Whitmer strolled past Richmond Heights in their previous meeting back in December of 2018 by a score of 81-62. The rematch might be a little tougher for Whitmer since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
