Basketball Recap: Blountstown Tigers vs. Wewahitchka Gators
Blountstown gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 64-47 victory over the Wewahitchka Gators. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Blountstown was led to victory by Cyion Smith and Bowen Barber. Smith dropped a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds, while Barber went 6-for-10 on his way to 12 points and eight boards. Smith has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Demarkus Roberts was another key player, putting up eight points and four steals.
Blountstown was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wewahitchka only racked up six.
Wewahitchka's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaxon Sweatt, who posted 14 points, and Bryce Ethridge, who scored two points along with ten rebounds and six blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Price, who earned six points.
Wewahitchka has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Blountstown wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 61-60 loss against Liberty County on the 12th. As for Wewahitchka, they will be home for the holidays to greet Franklin County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Gators will need to watch out since the Seahawks have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
