Baseball Recap: Woodlawn Has No Trouble Against Lebanon

Woodlawn owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Lebanon Greyhounds as they made off with a 9-0 win. The Cardinals were shut out 1-0 the last time they took on the Greyhounds, so the Cardinals were just returning the favor.

JW Morgan was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Woodlawn is undefeated when Morgan posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, Gianni Cheatam was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Woodlawn: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-11 otherwise.

Woodlawn's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Lebanon, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14.

The future could be bright for both Woodlawn and Lebanon: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Cardinals will try to hand Elverado their fourth-straight defeat when the two meet at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Lebanon will look to extend Dupo's 14-game losing streak when they meet at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
