Volleyball Recap: Callie Beckler Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Midview

Steele won the last time they faced Midview and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Comets walked away with a 3-1 win over the Middies. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Comets.

Steele had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-8, 26-24, 25-17.

Steele's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Callie Beckler, who had 18 assists and seven digs. Beckler is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last 12 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amalee Caldera, who had five digs and three aces.

Steele was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. They served two more aces than Midview's also-impressive total of ten.

When it comes to explaining why Midview lost, don't look at Dezirae Thomas. Despite the final result, she had six digs and two aces. Amelia Volney also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Steele's record is now 11-8. As for Midview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Steele wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Avon on the 2nd. As for Midview, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Elyria on the 2nd.
