Football Preview: Rusk Eagles vs. Carthage Bulldogs        
        
		
             Rusk hasn't had much luck against Carthage recently, but that could start to change  on Friday. The Rusk Eagles will host the Carthage Bulldogs  at 7:30  p.m.
 Rusk is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 35  points  last Friday, they were much more limited against Athens  on Friday. They were beaten by the Hornets 48-9. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings  (they are ranked 743rd, while the Hornets are ranked 209th).
 Rusk didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of  Zachary Adams and  Hunter Moore. Moore is also crushing it when it comes to  total tackles: he's   made at least six every time he's  taken the field this season.
 Meanwhile, Carthage had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 41.5 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They claimed a resounding  55-0 win over the Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won seven matches by 31  points or more  so far this season.
 Rusk's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Carthage, their victory was  their third straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 7-1.
 Rusk was taken down by Carthage 49-21 in their previous meeting  back in October of 2023. That  game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Rusk was down  35-7.
