            Baseball Preview: Jacobs Golden Eagles vs. Huntley Red Raiders        
        
		
        
        
            Jacobs is 2-8 against Huntley since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles will be playing at home against the Red Raiders  at 4:30  p.m. Jacobs will be strutting in after a  win while Huntley will be coming in after a  defeat.
Having struggled with five  losses in a row, Jacobs  turned things around against Hampshire  on Monday. They skirted past the Whip-Purs  2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  victory the Golden Eagles have posted  since March 18th.

 Braden Behrens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a  run (which was  unearned)  on five hits and racked up seven Ks. He also  tossed  no  earned runs, which is notable because Jacobs is undefeated when he allows at  most  one  earned run, but 2-6 otherwise.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Andrew Deegan, who  went 1-for-2 with one  home run and two  RBI.  Cooper Gulgren also deserves some recognition as  he  snagged his first  stolen base of the season.
 Meanwhile, Huntley was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Monday as the team picked up their third straight  defeat. They took  a  9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of McHenry.
 Huntley's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Jacobs, their  win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-6.
 Jacobs couldn't quite get it done against Huntley in their previous meeting  back in April of 2024 as they fell  8-5. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
