Softball Game Preview: Rogers Rams vs. Olympia Bears

The Rogers Rams are taking a road trip to take on the Olympia Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rogers will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

While Rogers' win against Yelm wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rams skirted past the Tornados 1-0. The one-run effort marked the Rams' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Not much got past Sierra Murray, who gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Yelm off the board. Murray has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 20 runs the game before, Olympia was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They fell just short of Puyallup by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bears have suffered since May 25, 2024.

Olympia saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Crass, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Rogers pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Olympia, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-6.

Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rogers hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Olympia struggles in that department as they've averaged .372. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Rogers came out on top in a nail-biter against Olympia in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
